I hope all of you US friends had a great Memorial Day weekend! We did so much yardwork that I can hardly type today, I am so dang sore! So I’m kicking off Monday Motivation this short week in better-late-than-never style.
Plus, I have a confession to make: I totally blew it last week.
I switched my tried and true approach – instead of putting consequences in place, I created a reward for myself. Now granted, both I and my daughter were sick last week, but if I had consequences in place, I would have gotten my stuff done. Since there was only a reward, I hardly did a thing.
Lesson Learned: Know your motivation style and use it. But it could also mean that the reward wasn’t big enough. If I threw down a family vacation instead of flowers for my yard, I probably would have worked a little harder; I admit it.
So today let’s get down to business. My commitments for the week:
- Clean out my inbox (Can you believe I got over 200 emails on Memorial Day weekend?! WHAT is this world coming to?!
) - 2 things off of my Urgent To Do list daily – 8 total
- Meditate 3 times
If I don’t get this list done by Saturday, I will give half of my advertising revenue for the month of May to Kiva (instead of my usual 5%).
Yikes.
So what are you going to get done?

Before I go to bed tonight, I will:
1. Write a blog post
2. Read the articles I need for work
3. Email coworkers about progress
4. Clean the house
5. Meet new person for tennis at 6:00
6. Call my grandma
7. Do two things from my to-do list
If I do not accomplish these seven things, then I will have to clean the entire back yard tomorrow.
1. I will write 3 new blog posts by Friday.
)
2. I will get a load of laundry done each night this week.
3. I will get used to leaving the house for the new 6:30 daycare time. (Unfortunately I have yet to make the WAH jump
4. I will try to grin and bear it at work.
If I don’t get these things done successfully this week, I will help my son clean his room the right way (Great motivation!)

I will respond to emails only when my posts are completed as planned.
If I do not accomplish this consistently through to Saturday I will post a picture of myself getting pepper sprayed in the face at training. (It’s ugly and embarassing)
Wendy… it’s cool to see you supporting Kiva too.
I almost missed Tuesday’s Monday motivation and the day is half gone… so here’s what’s left.
1.)Pray
2.)Study for my PSTAR
3.)One blog post
4.)One podcast
If I don’t get them done by bedtime tonight… I’ll contribute $25 to my Kiva Account
Well it’s a good job that I opened up and donated/loaned $25 to a Kiva account cause I sure forgot to ring the electricity company!
Got it done. Thanks Wendy for once again hosting Monday Motivation. I know it really helps me!
Hi Wendy,
I did the same thing….said I would reward myself last week and then didn’t even work on my project.
Today is Wednesday…I’m committing to working on my project for 1/2 hour W-TH-F, and before Sat. I will fax out some forms, and make 3 phone calls.
If I don’t complete this list, then I will not turn on the radio for the next week (not good!)
Thanks for doing this each week Wendy, it’s a good idea.
